The World That Couldn't Breathe, written by Frank Nino IV, is a dark allegorical story set in a world quietly overtaken by an invisible force known as the Veil, a suffocating, beast-made sickness that spreads through the air and slowly weakens all who breathe it.
What begins as a promise of protection becomes a system of control as wolves rise to power and snakes work from the shadows. The story follows Kaydan, a lion from a generation that still remembers a world that was strong, alive, and untainted. As he grows older, he watches his kind weaken, families drift apart, and fear reshape everyday life. Alongside his soulmate, Lonies, Kaydan builds a family and holds onto hope even as the world around them grows darker.
Though separated from his estranged son, Frank, their bond remains unbreakable. As Kaydan's body weakens and his time grows short, he discovers that the wolves, snakes, and even the Veil do not have the final word. Beyond their control stands the Lamb, slaughtered, risen, and untouched by the darkness. Kaydan cannot defeat the system or escape death. Instead, he chooses faith. In a world ruled by fear, he discovers a truth no earthly power can control:
