Harvey Wolff
An arousing autobiographical journey detailing the challenges and successes of a young Black kid from the underprivileged communities of St. Louis, Missouri. Harvey's coming-of-age encounters with crime, poverty, racism, and family dynamics, while foreign to some, are all too familiar to many. Particularly people of color. This inspiring story spans the emotional gauntlet from humorous to sad; from angry to excited; from bravery to benevolence.
Deeply personal and well-written, this autobiography leads listeners on an open journey beginning in the 1970s and culminating nearly 50 years later. Through intimate stories, Wolff paints a striking picture of his life. With intelligence and insight, he satirizes joining the US Army, trading youth for maturity on the campus of Lincoln University in Missouri and ultimately having a successful 30-year career as a highly decorated military officer. This powerful story is ultimately one of redemption, family, love, poverty, grace and forbearance. It is of laughter, friends, sacrifice, hope, joy and everything good that somehow manages to materialize from enduring the worst of times and embracing the opportunities life invariably casts your way.
