The Sovereigns’ Secret

London, 1854. On the fog-shrouded brink of the Crimean War, Ambassador Fedor Zinchenko holds a single secret to force peace: a scandalous, one-of-a-kind daguerreotype of a 17-year-old Princess Victoria. His plan: blackmail the Crown.

Before he can act, Zinchenko is murdered and the secret is stolen. The last hope for peace dies. The weapon meant to prevent the war now belongs to the very men who crave it.

The murder is officially ruled a "heart seizure." Only Mikhail Volkov, Zinchenko’s junior attaché, knows the truth. Now a fugitive, hunted by a compromised Scotland Yard, the hardened soldier is alone, with only a thirst for justice.

His sole ally is the one person he shouldn't trust: Eleanor Bright. A demure lady-in-waiting to the Queen, Eleanor lives a double life as a secret spy for her anti-war father. She is an 'ornament' who sees everything, a 'canary' in the gilded cage.

This unlikely pair—the Russian soldier and the English courtier—must navigate a labyrinth of treachery. Their target is Lord Harrington, a powerful, ruthless industrialist who plans to use the "Sovereign's Secret" to blackmail Prince Albert and ensure a war that will line his pockets.

Hunted and outnumbered, their desperate search for proof plunges them into a London of extremes: from the opulent clubs of the elite to the cholera-ridden slums of Soho; from the lost history of the tragic 'Image Maker' to the fiery heart of Fleet Street.

As the net tightens, Mikhail and Eleanor are forced from the shadows into a brutal, final confrontation on the rain-slicked rooftops of London. They must not only save themselves but also answer a single, terrible question: In a game of empires, what is the true price of peace? And what secrets must be buried forever to protect a Crown?
