A favorite queen and a favorite son. Which one will the king choose to favor?
The Queen’s Demand recounts the opening saga of the Ramayana. It tells of Prince Rama’s earliest feats, his first meeting with Princess Sita, and the twist that shattered their dreams of “happily ever after”.
Narrated by Naimi Sheth, eight years old
About the Author, Illustrator, and Narrator
This mother-daughter team, Anna Johansson and Vrinda Sheth, have worked together for over a decade, creating the award-winning Sita’s Fire Trilogy, an illustrated retelling of the Ramayana. Here, they present a charming children’s version, focusing only on the beginning of the epic. The audiobook is narrated by Vrinda's daughter, Naimi, making it a three-generational team!
Anna drew the illustrations more than 20 years ago, as the prototype of the more elaborate paintings from Sita’s Fire, which Kirkus Reviews called “Gorgeous” and “Breathtaking”. When Vrinda found the folder of illustrations in her mom’s home, she was instantly inspired to write a simple text to match them. Naimi supported the project as both editor and narrator.
Recommended for ages three to seven.
