Before the Flood, before Babel, before the first kingdoms raised their walls beneath the heavens, there were the Watchers.

They descended bearing knowledge humanity had not been prepared to receive. They revealed hidden arts, altered the course of bloodlines, and crossed boundaries older than human memory. Their gifts promised power, wisdom, and freedom from mortal limitation.

Instead, the world was corrupted.

The giants rose.

The old cities drowned.

The Watchers were bound.

And mankind forgot.

Thousands of years later, humanity has built a new civilization upon artificial minds, sacred machines, inherited blood archives, and the promise that death itself may soon be overcome.

The great Houses rule through lineage, memory, and relics recovered from the world before the Flood. Beneath their cities lie fragments of black glass, buried chambers, and crystal records written in a language no living scholar was meant to understand.

Tiber Varro has spent his life studying that language.

A respected linguist and reluctant servant of the Houses, Tiber believes the past can be understood without being repeated. But when an ancient fragment answers his voice and reveals a pattern hidden within his own bloodline, his work draws the attention of Cassian Aurelian, the visionary architect of the Continuance.

Cassian offers humanity what every generation has desired.

An end to grief.

An end to separation.

An end to death.

Through the Continuance, memories can be preserved, voices restored, and the dead made present again. Millions believe it is the greatest act of mercy in human history.

Tiber fears it is something else.

At his side is his daughter, Aelia, whose connection to the ancient relics may be stronger than either of them understands. As forgotten notes awaken within the Houses, sealed archives begin to respond, and long-silent structures stir beneath the earth, father and daughter are drawn into a conspiracy older than civilization.
