In a future London, ex-professor, ex-drummer, and now barber Colin Petrie plies his trade under the cloud of virus PLQ, a worldwide pandemic that has circulated unchecked for 5 years. But more on Colin’s mind is a woman, Beatrice Mirza.
Her intelligence, grace, and mild temperament have for half a year created an ocean of contentment for Colin. Alas, he knows this will not last forever, for Beatrice is a starship designer, and in a matter of weeks will depart Earth and the Solar System forever—part of a mission to colonize a new world, free from PLQ. Until Beatrice herself contracts the virus.
Colin calls on his friend, an eccentric virologist, to provide Beatrice an experimental treatment. But there is a price: Colin and Beatrice must travel to the infectious zone to find the mysterious Lady of Dungeness.
Don’t miss this short tale of danger, discovery, poetry, and transformation.
