A restless, passionate Enterprise crew is called to Aleph Prime, where a demented physicist and murderer, Georges Mordreaux, must be transported to Rehabilitation Colony Seven. Incredibly, despite heavy security, Mordreaux breaks loose on board - and fatally guns down Captain Kirk! Suddenly the Enterprise is fighting for its life, while Spock realizes that Mordreaux is only part of a far more dangerous phenomenon. Mordreaux's past experiments have created alternate realities in the present, and known existence is beginning to unravel.
