Four women and a baby? No problem. Four women and a 14-year-old street urchin? That’s another story....
When Kate Manchester and three friends discover a homeless boy on the streets one stormy afternoon, they have no choice but to help him. Ragged, hungry and as trouble-prone as an unruly puppy, the boy turns the women's lives upside down. But maybe upside-down is exactly what the women need. Kate's husband is cheating on her. Kimbrielle fears the cancer she once beat may be returning. Susanna is coming to grips with sudden widowhood and Micki is struggling with loneliness. The women find themselves dealing with high school bullies, dyslexia, a drug-addicted mother and an indifferent school system as they try to save this wounded boy. As his troubles threaten to overwhelm them, the friends turn to each other for support. Soon, they are tackling their own problems: like getting a lying, philandering husband to finally move out of the house.
Poignant, funny and true-to-life, this book will warm your heart and stay with you long after it's done.
