あらすじ・解説

From USA Today best-selling author Parker S. Huntington comes a steamy, slow-burn love story full of enemies-to-lovers banter and second chances.

We were best friends, then we were enemies.

Loved. Protected. Cherished. There was a time when Ranieri Andretti made me feel those things. That was before his family came after mine.

He was supposed to forget me. We went our separate ways. It should have stayed like that. But now he's back in my life, and he's my new boss.

I want to hate him. He's my ex-best friend. My tormentor. The head of the Andretti family. But no matter how hard I try...I can't stay away.

Ranieri Andretti is a long stand-alone novella in the Five Syndicates mafia romance series.

Amazing Story and Outstanding Narration!

Wow! Parker S. Huntington did it again. She's a very talented writer, one of my very favorite authors. All of her books are like a gift: Open it, Read it, Loved it, Repeat. This story has it all! This is a very beautiful enemies-to-lovers, second-chance mafia romance novella, where the past and the present collide. I love the story of Ranieri Andretti and Carina Gallo. Their chemistry is strong and their love is forever. The ending is so beautiful! You can read/listen this story as a standalone, but believe me, you don't want to miss one book in this amazing Series.

Jeremy York and Desireé Ketchum did an outstanding narration. They both have a beautiful voice, well paced. I love their voices together, and this duet is really well done. Jeremy York is already one of my favorite narrators. This was my first listen to Desireé Ketchum's voice, and OMG! I love her voice! She's now on my list of favorite narrators. This is a great team author/narrators. Her words / their voices: This is perfection to me! I highly recommend it!

Love! Love! Love!

I currently just drove from Florida to California and I just have to say this book was the best entertainment. I love the characters and world Parker has painted, I have read all of her books so far and look forward to the next one. There is always something special when hearing a book though. This story did not disappoint. It gave me the feels.

Fall in love with a mafia prince!

Parker S. Huntington certainly knows how to deliver an amazing mafia romance. With her first two releases, I was entranced, and thought, a novella, will it be as good? Let me tell you, she blew this story out of the water! Her second chance romance for Ranieri and Carina is so good, I got completely lost in it. They are childhood friends, caught up in family matters. When their relationship is severed, it looked like there was no hope for either of them. But will they find their way back to each other? Ranieri is mentioned in previous books, and his personality is strong, and ruthless. But this book shows an entirely different side to the man. Carina is strong willed, independent and so guarded. Emotionally charged, I felt the everything while listening, All the longing, the hurt, the frustration and passion these two share is so compelling, it's impossible not to root for their happiness. As part of a series, there are characters we see overlap, which I absolutely love, but the best part is you can definitely listen as a standalone(though I don't recommend it, you don't want to miss the other books!) Add in new characters like Brody and Carina's father and you have a listen you do not want to miss.

Parker picked a winning team to narrate this story. With duet narration, Jeremy York and Desiree Ketchum bring the story to life. It's amazing how much a narration can affect a story, and these two give all the feels, inflections and passion to the characters. Amazing emotional tugs that just enhance the listen and make for a great afternoon!

Great story!!!

Omg! I cannot believe this is my first dual narrative audio book. It was amazing.
I love Mafia reads and this one did not disappoint me.
The friends to lovers made it even better.
Ranieri and Carina’s story had me hooked. Friends since they where kids, they where so sweet together, even though they where so different and for some unfortunate circumstances, they stopped talking. Carina never found out anything about Ranieri but she always wonder.
Years later, Ranieri pops up again and the chemistry and pull between this two hasn’t end after all those

Secrets, lies and deceptions make this story even more interesting. When everything comes to light, will Carina give Ranieri a second chance. He deserves it in my book!!

Great listen! 5 amazing stars

Great Read

Ranieri Andretti (The Five Syndicates #3) was a great read by Parker S. Huntington. This book followed Carina and Ranieri from their time in school as best friends, to adults that are enemies. When they were in school Carina always felt loved, cherished and protected by Ranieri. That is until the day that everything changed for them. Ranieri’s family went after Carina’s and that ended their friendship. As adults, they are brought back into each others life and given the possibility of a second chance at love. They both love each other but can they Carina forgive the past that hurt and tormented her. This was a great quick read and I can’t wait to read more in this series. Jeremy York and Desiree Ketchum did a great job of narrating the characters and making it so that you fall in love with them.

Ranieri Andretti

Ranieri is totally not the person you have pictured him to be in the past books. But at the same time he kind of is. He has shunned her for years, all because of a promise she knows nothing about. And as with all past relationships this one comes with lots of baggage too. I totally loved the duet narration. It did take a minute to get used to his accent in the narration, just because it was out of the norm for that area and a mob style book. But great job! I can't wait for the next book in the series Parker S. Huntington has me impatiently waiting.

Enduring love 💕

This romance began between two young people but due to the influence of their families and others caused a rift that would eventually take years to overcome. A very moving story which was made all the more remarkable due to the excellent narration. Well worth a read and certainly deserves 5 stars

A well crafter novella 4.5 stars

This was a great addition to The Five Syndicates series which I really, really enjoyed. This is a complete standalone story, and you wouldn't need to read the other books to appreciate this one. This is the fourth book I have read by Huntington and I personally find her writing style really engaging, energetic and entertaining.

This was an excellently crafted second-chance story, with Ranie and Carina being the two main characters. The story went back and forth between the present and snippets of time from their past. It was delightfuly interwoven, and built up the tension and attraction between this pair in a perfect way. I listened to this on whispersync/ audible, and I have to say I found the two narrators really added greatly to the feeling of this novella. I absolutely loved that there was a male and female narrator for this dual pov story.

A must listen

I eyeballed this book in May after I’d experienced the awesomeness that is Bastiano Romano. I loved it so freaking much, that I’ve been impatiently waiting for the audiobook so I could experience the book all over again. I loved it. The audio was well worth the wait, a definite must listen.

Parker S. Huntington is such a brilliant writer. The way she has built and intwined this series is applaud-worthy. Each book is connected but works as a standalone. You never feel like you have missing pieces, even if you read out of order and getting to see certain things from other characters point of view throughout the series is genius, it works so perfectly. Parker has such a beautiful way of creating these characters and circumstances where you know you should probably dislike the hero and his actions but deep down, you just can't help being in love with him. Make no mistake though, he is a hero. Ranieri Andretti is the mafia prince with a heart of gold. Which, if you’ve read the previous books in the series will surprise you. And the heroine? Sheesh. Parker writes the BEST heroines. I love them almost as much as I love the heroes. They are strong and feisty. Just how I like them. Carina Gallo is no exception, she’s not going to just roll over and do what Ranie wants and I loved that about her.

I’ve always been a sucker for second chance romances and this book is no different. It's a novella - 3 and a half hours at standard listening speed, but don't let that put you off from listening to this story. It's not lacking at all. The characters are well rounded and I never felt like I was missing something. I think Parker did a fabulous job of giving the reader enough information without repeating things from other books. That takes skill. Ranie and Carina have such a long history. Their love started so innocently and it was beautiful and perfect...until it wasn't. I liked how that played out and although I was holding myself back from kicking Ranie in the nads a few times, I knew something must have happened, once we finally get that missing piece it all made sense. I loved how as adults Ranie pursued Carina and because of the things they'd been through she fought it. She wasn’t just going to forgive and forget without an explanation, one Ranie wasn’t prepared to give. I loved that back and forth between them. The sexual tension between this couple was palpable, the build-up and the coming together was fantastic, it made everything they’d been through worth it. Now, it wouldn’t be a good book without something dodgy going on and let’s just say, I had my suspicions and I might have growled out loud when things came to light about a certain character. The epilogue was ALL the things.

Let’s talk about this narration for a second. This was Desiree Ketchum’s first audiobook? You cannot tell, it was a high-quality production and performance. I loved her tone and cannot wait to listen to more from her. Desiree has already been added to my must listen list. Her switch up between the different characters was smooth yet obvious, each female has a distinct voice. The way she performed Carina was just how I imagined when I read the book. Jeremy York is one of my favourites but it’s been a while since I listened to anything from him and I’m so pleased that I got to get reacquainted with his skills as a performer. He nailed the tough but sweet Ranieri - he was Ranie. No doubt. I’ve never heard him perform in duet before but I’m going to need more, stat. His transition from each male character was flawless and each was unique. They both delivered the frustrations the characters were going through with conviction that it was believable. Their voices really complemented each other, I definitely think they should do more work together.

I love duet narrations and I thought this one was done beautifully. It was very easy to follow and having read the book, I think it enhanced the listening experience. Now to beg Parker for all future books to be in duet, since she’s spoiling us with three this year. There was just one minor production issue that I noted. The end credits has the wrong narrator, it says, Zachary Webber instead of Jeremy York, but other than that it was a smooth production.
