Peter Leonard
Kate McCall's husband is killed by her teenage son, Luke, in a tragic bow hunting accident--an incident that sets into motion a series of events, culminating in a dramatic, life and death confrontation with a gang of killers. Included in the gang is Kate's first love - an ex-con who himself is struggling to persuade his former "colleagues" that he really did lose the heist money.
Peter Leonard displays remarkable maturity for a first-time novelist in both the language of his protagonists and plotting the story - the twists and turns of a love affair, an unrequited crush and a kidnapping/extortion plot complement a tightly-drawn, intimate cast of memorably quick and dim-witted characters all set around the Leonard family's home turf of Detroit. QUIVER marks the entry of a powerful new voice in crime fiction - and a masterful and powerful debut.
批評家のレビュー
“Peter Leonard's debut novel is a rich palette of everything dark and ominous that exists in crime fiction.... Leonard's well-crafted prose is perfectly realized by narrator Scott Sowers, whose voice seems designed for this chilling story. Sowers reads with passion and a thorough understanding of this crime caper, relating the story in a natural yet understated performance. Leonard's characters are real and believable, and Sowers never fails to bring them to life with a flair for honesty in his delivery. This memorable listening experience just might have listeners coming back to the story again and again, each time experiencing it on a new level.” —AudioFile magazine, winner of an AudioFile Earphones Award
“Peter Leonard makes an honourable debut in the same genre with this story of family, tragedy, of encroaching danger and of redemption. Scott Sowers narrates with flair.” —Canada.com
