Believing in miracles can be hard work. Twelve-year-old Amelia Forrest has a lot to pray for: improving her bad grades, fixing her strained relationship with her mama, and most importantly, dealing with her guilt over the role she played in her daddy's death.

But since Daddy died, Amelia has stopped believing in anything. Not prayer. Not miracles. And certainly not the crackpot visions of an ex-convict named Brother Mustard Seed who claims to have contact with her daddy.

Brother Mustard Seed is determined to bring a little faith back into Amelia's life, no matter how hard she tries to stop him. And when the strange little man moves in with her and her mama, Amelia realizes her life will never be the same again.

批評家のレビュー

"A fine debut from a writer to watch." (Booklist)
"Explore[s] the jumbled, quasi-mystical connections between belief and bravery, laughter and letting go....The book's twangy first person narrative keeps the reader engaged to the touching, tear-inducing end." (Kirkus Review)
