あらすじ・解説
Dear Isaiah,
Eight months ago, you were just a soldier about to be deployed and I was just a waitress, sneaking you a free pancake and hoping you wouldn't notice that my gaze was lingering a little too long. But you did notice. We spent one life-changing week together before you left, and we said goodbye on day eight, exchanging addresses at the last minute.
I saved every letter you wrote me, your words quickly becoming my religion. But you went radio silent on me months ago, and then you had the audacity to walk into my diner yesterday and act like you'd never seen me in your life. To think...I almost loved you and your beautifully complicated soul. Almost. Whatever your reason is - I hope it's a good one.
Maritza the Waitress
PS - I hate you, and this time...I mean it.

P.S. I Love This Story!
I love Winter Renshaw's writing. She knows how to bring emotion in a story. The storyline is very interesting and captivating. This love story is an unconventional manner to fall in love. This is an instant love disguised in a slow, very slow burn. I love this story so much. I love their encounter and their week of Saturdays. I hate when Isaiah left for Afghanistan. My heart broke for Maritza. The twist when Isaiah returns and don't remember her is very well written. Fortunately, this story as a HEA, a beautiful one. The narration was very great. This was my first listen to Victoria Mei and Wally Schrass and this won't be the last. I love Wally Schrass's voice and I had an instant love for the voice of Victoria Mei. She has a beautiful voice. Can't wait for the Melrose's story. I received an ARC for this book, but the audiobook released in the same time, so I just one-click and read/listen this story. This is a credit very well spending. I don't regret it! In fact, I think everyone has to listen to this story, not only read it. I also one-click to purchase the official ebook. This book is now beside my other bests of books and Winter Renshaw is now one of my preferred authors.

Rushed ending.
The story was going along real well until the last 3rd of the book. For some reason I felt that the circumstances of Isaiah's absence seemed either to dramatic or downplayed. It's hard to explain without spoiling. All and all, it was a good listen and if you don't think too much about the hows and whys you'd most likely enjoy the couple's journey.

Couldn't put it down!
I really enjoyed this story. The characters were easy to love, and there was just enough drama to keep it interesting without making it too angsty for me.
The narration was really well done and I wouldn't hesitate to listen to either of these narrators again.

I didn’t hate it but...
While I didn’t hate this story it definitely wasn’t my favorite. If it wasn’t part of the romance package I would probably be disappointed by it. I hate to criticize anyone’s work. For my tastes, the dialogue was unrealistic and the story could have been better laid out. I know some people loved it, but for me it was just... meh.

PS I HATED IT
First I will only have a few more reviews since Audible will be making changes to the listener page on the 27th. Changes that I feel are going to be horrible. Thank you to the 307 followers I had because the fun for me was seeing how my reviews helped you all. Now for this crappy book. Though I have heard worst narration both were not very good. The story was even more unbalanced. I just did not like it. To me it was kinda YA. Not a keeper for me. Try it if you can get it on sale.

Isaiah & Mariska’s Enemies To Lovers Romance!
Isaiah & Mariska’s Enemies To Lovers Romance Is A Steamy Slow Burn With A Feel-Good Ending! There Are A Few Tears. It Is About Taking Chances And Finding Purpose.
Mariska Claiborne, twenty-four, is the granddaughter of one of Hollywood’s classic movie stars and pinup models. She lives in Brentwood in her famous grandmother’s guesthouse along with her cousin and best friend Melrose, but money and fame don’t insulate Claibornes from earning their keep. She is expected to pay Gram rent. It was a lesson Gram learned in her earlier years and passed along to the next generation. Mariska works as a waitress at Brentwood Pancake and Coffee, well-known for their famous pancakes and the one pancake per customer policy. She had finished her sophomore year at UC Berkeley, but her father now refuses to pay for school until she chooses a useful major – one that he approves. The problem is that Mariska still has no idea what she wants to do with her life. Her cousin wants to follow in their grandmother’s footsteps, but that doesn’t excite her at all. She is taking a year off of dating to focus on herself and hopefully find a way forward.
Isaiah Torres, twenty-seven, is a loner and prefers it that way. Sure, he has befriended fellow soldiers during his ten years in the Army, but life is easier without attachments. He learned that lesson the hard way ten years ago, and his whole family won’t let him live down what happened to his father. So much of the last decade has been spent on deployment, and he feels a little disconnected from his two brothers and three sisters when he heads home to his mother’s apartment in South-Central LA during his time off. People tend to love him or hate him, and it doesn’t much matter which to him. His poor communication skills don’t help matters, and neither do his stubborn streak and sometimes rash behavior. He spends his down time at sports bars, enjoying beer and women. He isn’t boyfriend material and doesn’t pretend otherwise. He has a one-and-done rule that he usually sticks to.
When Isaiah sits down at one of Mariska’s tables, he pushes her buttons like no other. His rude manners are shocking, and his insistence on having her break the strict one pancake policy has her putting her job on the line for him. When she literally bumps in to him later, neither can believe their luck. Despite their heated exchanges and Isaiah’s rudeness, they have a connection of sorts. Mariska’s bubbly personality cannot be tamped down, and even though nice with a big personality is totally not his type, Isaiah finds himself giving up control to a woman for the first time in ten years. Neither is interested in dating, and Isaiah deploys to Afghanistan again in one week. So Mariska proposes they spend the week together – a week of Saturdays – doing the kind of fun things that Saturdays are for. Strictly as friends, of course. No lies and no romance allowed.
Isaiah and Mariska quickly realize that their chemistry is undeniable, yet they convince themselves that they can recognize it and move on as friends. They both stubbornly commit to sticking to their ground rules, and though they stray a little, they know their time is limited to one week. But Mariska gets her way one more time when Isaiah agrees to exchange letters with her while away. They depart as friends. During their separation, their letters allow them to deepen their friendship. But Isaiah is sent to Syria, which is a hotbed of danger. And for Mariska life goes on.
Isaiah and Mariska are a decidedly complicated couple. Isaiah is over the top rude and a little unpredictable, but Mariska slowly discovers over the course of their week together that there is a hidden depth to him and she likes it. Isaiah surprises himself when he realizes that he actually like Mariska. Their relationship is fragile as they tentatively trudge forward. Neither believes that nine days of knowing the other can lead to something lasting. Even more established relationships fail when tested during deployment. But while Mariska is open – what you see is what you get – Isaiah has many layers. He doesn’t lie, but he holds his cards closer to his vest. Their non-relationship is tested as they both face personal challenges. The couple eventually finds a happy ending.
Isaiah and Mariska’s enemies to lovers romance is a steamy slow burn with a feel-good ending. There are a few tears. It mixes Hollywood and military service. It is about taking chances and finding purpose. The story is well-written. The plot is somewhat complex. The characters are nicely developed. Isaiah’s unravels slowly, as he is a private person. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Isaiah and Mariska. I rate this book 4.5 stars.
As for the Audio: it is well-performed and consistent with the book.

Enjoyable.
Not a bad storyline.
I liked the way the chapters were split between the 2 characters, with 2 seperate narrators.
