あらすじ・解説

This new audiobook is fifth in a series of inspirational stories about fathers raising children with special needs.

On Losing a Child: Stories from the SFN Dad to Dad Podcasts is a compilation of 12 stories told from the perspectives of fathers who lost a child who in most cases was medically fragile. Each of the 12 chapters includes a heartfelt story by a father who has also agreed to serve as a Special Fathers Network (SFN) Mentor Father. The foreword to the book is by Rooster Rossiter, the father of three and one of the 12 dads whose story is included here. Rooster lives in Virginia Beach, VA. He served in the US Marine Corps for 24 years and since retiring has been primarily focused on continuing to build Ainsley's Angels, a nonprofit named after his daughter Ainsley, who sadly died at age 12. From the time of birth, Ainsley was diagnosed with Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy. Before Ainsley passed away, she and her dad participated in more than 100 running races, including the Marine Corps Marathon, with Rooster pushing Ainsley in a bright pink running chair. The mission of Ainsley's Angels is "Together, we shall educate, advocate, and celebrate inclusive communities, while connecting everyone through empowerment and belonging." Since 2011, they have granted more than 1,300 running chairs, in 70 locations in more than 30 states.

The Dad to Dad Podcast, now with more than 270 episodes, was created by the 21st Century Dads Foundation to inspire dads to be more present (physically, emotionally, and spiritually) in the lives of their children and to promote the Special Fathers Network.

About the Special Fathers Network: SFN is a dad-to-dad mentoring program for fathers raising children with special needs. Many of the 500+ SFN mentor fathers, who all are raising kids with special needs, have said: "I wish there was something like this when we first received our child's diagnosis. I felt so isolated. There was no one within my family, at work, or within my friend group."
