あらすじ・解説

Prolific writer James Lincoln Collier collaborates with his brother, Christopher, a distinguished historian, and the Revolutionary War comes alive in this contemporary classic for young adults. Here is a war with no clear-cut loyalties - dividing families, friends, and towns. Young Tim Meeker watches his 16-year-old brother, Sam, go off to fight with the Patriots while his father remains a reluctant British Loyalist in the Tory town of Redding Ridge, Connecticut. Over the course of the war, Tim learns that life teaches some bitter lessons and doesn't guarantee clear answers.

My Brother Sam Is Dead is a stirring, probing tale full of action and suspense, putting listeners right into the heart of the Revolutionary War.

Just kept listening

I'm rating this for my 12 year old son who just kept listening to the book. He loves historical fiction and this book was no exception. I downloaded it on a whim for him and he sat for close to the entire time just listening to it! 4 hours of grabbing a 12 year old boys attention says a lot in my opinion.

sounded like Cailou

What a horrible reading- I can't believe I paid for this. The audio quality is awful, the reader's inflection is terrible, just overall poor quality.

Another excellent book this year

We loved this book as a family and loved the narrator. Voice that is easy to understand and interesting to follow along with the book. We had several great conversations about this book.

Easy listening book

Read this several years ago. Very sad, but I enjoyed the story. I am an adult, but there is nothing childish about this book. Good read.

Okay book, poor audio quality

This was required reading for my fifth grader. The audio quality was poor and I ended up reading it aloud to him myself.

An oldie but a goodie - Revolutionary war story

We are a homeschool family, we read this as part of our living history lesson on the Revolutionary war. The events of war are horrific and families were effected in deeply personal ways. The irony of this story plays into real life incidences, as well as teaching a great literary device. The performance was older, like a radio broadcast from yesteryear, but the narrator was intriguing and we were glued to the storyline. The details are graphic, but led to good discussions between my 12 year old son and me.
