Barbara Cueto, author of From Mafia Princess to God's Princess, survived many diverse and ominous battles growing up and into her 30's when she finally found freedom and saving grace through Jesus Christ. But one of her darkest battles was when she was thrown into her mother's dysfunctional world of Alzheimer's disease.
When the Lord led her to pour her experiences into a journal, converted into this volume, she finally found a way to make sense of the nonsensical. Seeing the unexplainable in black and white, as she was going through it in real time, helped her sort through the ongoing grief and anger, among a kaleidoscope of emotions, that emerged not only daily but sometimes on a minute-by-minute basis.
This journal allowed her to see how the Lord was indeed working in and through her life as the cruel disease ran its course. Sharing her struggles gave her the strength she needed to witness the destruction rendered by Alzheimer's on the woman who was not only her mother, but also her closest confidante and spiritual mentor.
While the intention was never to make this bittersweet journal public, the path led her here with hopes that it will strengthen others, as statistically nearly everyone alive will be touched by dementia in some way.
