A story from the anthology Masters of True Crime, which spans murder cases from the beginning of the 20th century to today. This is a must-hear for fans of true crime and will also be compelling to mystery and thriller listeners.
Unimpressive FBI Sting Gone Wrong
Usually these Masters of True Crime are first rate, but this one leaves a lot to be desired. It features Joey Torres, a former jailed and convicted murderer and light-weight boxer, who had recently been released from prison. He participated in a supposedly fixed fight while working undercover for the FBI (after being promised he would not go back to jail). This production starts off with a lot of bravado and cursing, and ends with a whimper . . . and Joey Torres back in jail. I can't find a lot of sympathy either for him, the boxing industry or the FBI in this sad tale.
