このコンテンツについて

How does the Border Control identify sex traffickers, or people coming into the country for any kind of sex? And... why is it any of their business? Susie reads an article from Laura Agustin's The Naked Anthropologist blog about sex victims and sex workers. Agustin is an authority on trafficking, and she explodes several myths: that selling sex is completely different from any other kind of work, that migrants who sell sex are passive victims, and that the multitudes of people out to "save" them are without self-interest. Agustin makes a passionate case against these stereotypes, arguing that the label "trafficked" does not accurately describe migrants' lives and that the "rescue industry" serves to disempower them.

Next, in "Tell Me Your Sex Story", we offer another of our listener interviews in which regular people step into Susie's sexual confession booth. Today we meet "Gideon", a med-school student who returns for a second interview. Gideon details his recent break-up with his fiancé, and then Susie and Gideon talk about heartbreak, sex with friends, and how to move on and have the best sex without regret. Let's dig in and hear from a real person - just like you and me.

Then, reaching into the "Try This at Home" mailbag, Susie finds a letter from a guy who wants to talk about people with disabilities and sex. Let's get real, says Susie; people with certain limitations still want to have sex. Can we talk?

Have a question? You can call Susie's hotline at 831-480-5110. And you can send your confidential questions - plus requests for free samples and blog banners! - to susie@susiebright.com. [Episode 555, January 25, 2013]
