Have you noticed a change in your parents and are unsure what to do next? This is the book to help you think about next steps, common mistakes people make, and what I wish I had done differently as a caregiver for my dad.

You'll hear personal stories about my experience, as well as what I've seen professionally helping families get their estate planning, finances, and insurance in order. It's a practical blend of guidebook and stories. Caring for a parent as they age is challenging. You are often thrown into the situation and unsure what to do next. You'll be shown step-by-step instructions of how to protect them from scammers, how to approach difficult conversations, and how you can become a professional at setting boundaries.

Helping my dad age was not an easy experience. In fact, our elder care consultant said he was one of the top five most difficult cases she had ever worked with. During our seven year caregiving journey through stage 4 lung cancer and cognitive impairment, my mom and I both I walked away from caregiving at different times to give ourselves a break.

What is covered in the book: The easy wins you can implement in an hour or two, why you need to talk about estate planning with your parents and the mistakes that often cost people a lot of money and time, how to navigate and learn about different medical systems (assisted living, nursing homes, aging at home, adult family homes, and more), how to set boundaries even when your parents trespass them, how to have difficult conversations when your parents avoid them at all costs, how to deal with caregiver burnout and why "letting them fail" is sometimes the best option, and practical steps you can take to protect them from scammers and fraudsters.

Caregiving can be a thankless job with a never ending list of things that need to be done. At the end of every chapter are action steps you can take to save you time and provide peace of mind.
