Edward Bond
A wide selection gritty and hard hitting plays from the award-winning English playwright Edward Bond
Edward Bond was an English playwright, theatre director, poet, dramatic theorist and screenwriter.
He was the author of some 50 plays, among them Saved (1965), the production of which was instrumental in the abolition of theatre censorship in the UK. Early Morning was banned by Lord Chamberlain. His play Saved became an international bestseller- during the theatre censorship period - with more than 30 different productions around the world between 1966 and 1969. It established Bond as a colossus of the world stage, whose reputation would go on to become far bigger abroad than at home.
His work is full of violence and the characters often shine a light on the more unnerving aspects of human behaviour. Alongside his award winning and popular plays we have included several short story readings and an interview with the playwright himself.
Cast includes – David Tennant, Anton Lesser, Ronald Pickup, Maggie Steed, Jason Flemying, David Ryall, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Joan Sims, and many more.
