あらすじ・解説

Stone Barrington takes down old and new enemies in the latest thriller from perennial fan favorite Stuart Woods.

After a rocky jaunt in Maine, Stone Barrington is settling back in New York City when an old client reaches out for help with a delicate matter. A feud they thought was put to rest long ago has reemerged with a vengeance, and reputations - and money - are now on the line.

As Stone sets out to unravel a tangled web of crime and secrets, his mission becomes even more complicated when he makes an irresistible new acquaintance. In both the underbelly and upper echelons of New York, everyone has something to hide - and if Stone has learned anything, it’s that history has a way of repeating itself....

You ruined Stone and Dino!

I have read all of Stuart Woods books and enjoyed them. I do not know why Mr. Woods would turn Stone into a murderer and worst include his best friend, Dino. In other novels they defend themselves against others outright. I know Stone has an insane sex drive but to go to bed when he knows she is trying to kill him is insane. Mr. Woods should put Stone on the shelf for awhile and write more fresher Teddy Fay books.

Not a novel, a joke

Woods' "Class Act" is not a novel; it is a joke. The characters are cartoon figures, mostly male and mysogynist. There is no plot, just a series of ludicrous happenings to the one-dimensional figures. The narrator does his best. But it is like trying to give life to the phone book. The whole thing is a sham, Stay away or, better, read a superman comic; that will offer a lot more entertainment.

Just ok

I have read all of the Stone Barrington books. I have to say this was my least favorite. I didn’t like that he was a criminal in this book!! Before, he avoided it ! Now he’s posting people to kill! Disappointed…

Disappointed

Too unrealistic... women too easy, killing without conscience. Other Barrington books not this over the top with those things.

Fun Story but…..narration below par

Narrator Tony Roberts has a voice more suited to novels of the western genre or 1930-1960 era. It is too raspy, his attempts at Dinos voice makes Dino sound as if he was on his deathbed. The female voices are equally pathetic.
Conclusion I was unable yo finish listening

I am trying to return.

Not something I cared for

Depending upon what you can stomach from your heroes. This is an interesting twist but for me there must have been a better way to get Stone out of this mess. And Stone is left with few choices but not something I cared for. The involvement of Dino in this mess is not good. The sole reason for my not giving this story a high rating is the situation Stone and company is in.

The worst!!

I have read many previous books by Stuart Woods, and until this one, enjoyed the Stone Barrington series. This was the worst EVER! Having Stone Barrington and his friend, Dino, become involved with the mob and murder was just plain dumb. Sadly, this is probably the last Stuart Woods book I will attempt.

How Old Would Stone Be Now?

I have to admit, maybe it's just that this is book 58. But I'm thinking that the constant gratuitous sex and ridiculous sexual innuendo conversations are getting on my nerves. I find it VERY unlikely that every.single.woman. on the planet sees him and immediately wants to jump into bed with him. And he's ABLE.,.every.single.time. And he hasn't caught anything yet. And Holly doesn't care. The STORY would have been fine without the amount of sexual embellishment. Thank God for Dino.

Stone not a Class Act

I’ve listened to every Stone Barrington book over the years. Tony Roberts’ performances are comfortable and enjoyable. But the stories have increasingly lost creativity and suspense. Stone Barrington’s sexual addiction is tiresome and disgusting, and now he’s moved to criminal behavior. I used to enjoy his brilliance as an upstanding lawyer and problem-solver. Stuart Woods presents every female character as if they’re either an idiot or a sex addict, too, including POTUS. Only Dino (and Viv) remain Class Acts. How about a new series with them?
