Farm vet Emma knows what it’s like to go without and when she has the opportunity to share the cost of her accommodation for Christmas, she’s quick to agree. But when she meets self-assured city vet Oli, who’s trying his hand at rural practice before he takes off on his next adventure, he’s the last person she wants invading her home and their lives couldn’t be more opposite. Oli’s exactly the kind of man likely to leave a trail of broken hearts in his wake, and after a crushing break-up straight out of university, Emma isn’t going let herself fall for his charms like everyone else.
It isn’t long before Oli makes himself at home in Hartfell, and it seems Emma is the only one who doesn’t take to him. His background has afforded him plenty of opportunities and she can’t help wondering why he’s always on the move when family is the centre of her own world. But when Oli’s life implodes in a way Emma never saw coming and the village rallies around him, she realises that his story may have a different beginning but it’s no less difficult than her own.
With Christmas on the way and Oli’s latest adventure already beckoning, Emma needs to take a leap of faith if she’s ever going to trust again and find out if they might have a future together beyond the festive season.
