あらすじ・解説

They all want the Dragon dead.

The Dragon was trained from his youth to operate as a lethal killing machine. He has tangled with crime lords, dangerous insurgents, even Nether Ops...and none of these forces has been able to bring the elusive warrior to heel.

Enter the notorious bounty hunter Tyrus Rechs.

Rechs takes on the job as a favor to an old Savage Wars buddy. Only Rechs isn’t out to kill the Dragon - his mission is to save the kid’s life.

Unless the Dragon kills Rechs first.

Best of Galaxy's Edge

Requiem for Medusa and Chasing the Dragon are unequivocally the two best prequels in Anspach and Cole's outstanding Galaxy's Edge series.
What makes them so outstanding? Four things:
1. Rex is the main protagonist in both novels;
2. Both stories have captivating and complex plot lines, and they're also chock-full of brutal action scenes;
3. Anspach and Cole's writing is exceptional, offering vivid descriptions of people and planets along the galactic ring, and providing the characters with multidimensional and dynamic personalities;
4. Ray Porter's narration is truly superb.
(IMO, Porter and Bray are the only two narrators capable of hopping in to properly narrate any given story in Galaxy's Edge, without either butchering the voices primary characters or disrupting the overall flow of the story.)
Both Requiem for Medusa and Chasing the Dragon have rightfully earned my highest recommendation. Bravo!

okay story with great performance

Pretty much a stand alone story about Tyrus Rex and his adventures in days past. Plenty of action and adventure but in the end the point to it all is hard to find. Skip it or listen to it, won't make much difference to appreciating the original series any more or less.

Awesome read

Action packed from start to finish. Strap in for another tale in the galaxy centered around Tyrus Rex and his pursuit of the mysterious bounty "The Dragon". Is the Dragon friend, foe, or just another bounty for Tyrus to cash in on. Find out in this installment in the Galaxys Edge series.

Rechs rides again

Another fantastic Rechs adventure, as he chases down a man so dangerous he has knocked Rechs off his perch as the galaxy's most wanted. But who is "The Dragon" and what terrible secrets does he know? As Rechs chases down leads to find the dragon, the question becomes Will Rechs destroy the dragon, or try to save him?

99% chase, 1% confrontation, 0% personality

When it comes to Galaxy’s Edge sci-fi military books, I tend to only enjoy the novellas because the full length books spend too much time on jingoism, battle p@rn, and point versus enlisted preachiness. However, this trilogy thankfully gives a better balance by dialing down the military side and amping up the sci-fi, Star Wars-like side. Plus, the focus is on T Rechs’s bounty hunting years, which is also a plus.

I quite liked book 1 in this spin-off trilogy. That one gave a great space-spaghetti western revenge tale combined with a Battle Royale /Hunger Games finish, while also giving a meaty chunk of backstory for immortal soldier turned bounty hunter Rechs. This one promised an epic confrontation between old and new kings of the hill as Rechs tracks down the Dragon, who is at the top of the galaxy’s hit list. Unfortunately, for the entire book, there’s very little interaction between the two and barely a mano-a-mano “who’s the better killer” fight scene. Instead, we get crumbs of a backstory for both, told mostly through a sappy two second flashback (“ball”), that kind of works to give us a Pavlovian release at the end.

But, other than Rechs (and maybe Fancypants), no one else in this book has much personality, backstory, or clever dialogue... just a series of flat, stock characters who appear only long enough to serve their plot-device purpose. This was decent as a sale purchase, but that’s about it.

Another Great Dive Into The Ocean of Rechs

This series continues to captivate, as we continue to get a better and deeper look into the man behind the infamous (depending on who you ask) Mark I armor. If you wanted to know more about everyone's favorite general/bounty-hunter, or if you just want some kickass gunslinging, this is definitely a tale for you. Plus Ray Porter is a fantastic Tyrus.

Deja vu,-all over again. It's a good story telling

Write what you know!
Either it seems these authors have served as did I in the Nam war as a grunt in
VietNam (I Corp 1968 - 69) . Story setting is another world around a far star .
I think you would be advised to find, and begin with book one, This story floats well on its own. I will now seek it out with high hopes as I have enjoyed this listen.

Love this series, even when a book is just average

They just cannot produce enough of these for me. My newest favorite series. So now I will eagerly wait for the next one. This book I just felt was good but in this series, good is average because most are Great

OK but not as good as Book 1

The book was enjoyable and a good listen, but not a gripping as book 1, Not really sure how much more can be written about Rex as it is getting stale now.

Fairly good stand alone

good story involving tyrus rex.

left me a little confused, it was hard to see the point of it in the end, you can see some of it in part 5 and having read this it makes a little sense but overall its probably just a good standalone

Rex by name and by nature.

Yes! I know this is kinda-like Star Wars. But! By no means is it a Star Wars wannabe. I see it as duality with some similar characters, but more mature, gritty and delivered with such narrator excellence that I have no trouble distinguishing the two. Went straight into this after Medusa and wasn`t disappointed in any shape or form.

Just superb

The follow on from requiem for medusa. Just as good and maybe even better. Really a stand alone story in its own right with call backs to book 1 but not necessarily having needed to have read. 2 great books in every way

Good not great

Ray Porter is the best thing about this. He really does his best to put the story on a level above the writing.
