Bill Guttentag's Boulevard opens cinematically, with 15-year-old Casey fleeing the scene of a crime at the Chateau Marmont. The action and intrigue in this literary crime novel only ratchet up when it's revealed that a high-profile lawyer was murdered, with Casey to blame - but of course, who's truly guilty is much more complicated. In this performance, the narration fluidly shifts between the runaway Casey, whose youthful desperation is easily captured by Casey Holloway, and Jimmy McCann, a detective played with wry wisdom by Brian Troxell. Guttentag, best known as an Oscar winning documentary and feature film writer/director, has created a fast-paced, gripping, and complex story sure to haunt listeners.
