Learn Afrikaans, though this simple five-session course for complete beginners. Afrikaans is spoken by 7 million people across Africa. This beginner's audio course will educate you to CEFR A1 level, focusing on simple and useful phrases that beginners can easily put to use.

For example, you will learn how to greet someone, order food, or ask for directions as well as many other day-to-day scenarios. You'll hear the pronunciation and intonation that are crucial in effective language learning and accent development given the focus on pronunciation and comprehension. You'll practice through repetition, listening exercises and real-life examples. The frequent exercises throughout the course will make sure that what you learn sticks with you and you can learn and review at your own pace.

Whether you're planning a trip to Cape Town, going on safari, looking to broaden your language skills, or simply curious about this unique language, this course offers a straightforward approach. Just listen, repeat, and start speaking Afrikaans today.

Afrikaans is primarily spoken in South Africa, where it is one of the 11 official languages. It is also spoken in Namibia, where it holds the status of a recognized national language, although it is not an official language. Additionally, there are small groups of Afrikaans speakers in Botswana, Zimbabwe, and several other African countries. Afrikaans originated from the Dutch spoken by settlers in the 17th century and has since developed its own identity while also incorporating other languages such as English, Malay, Portuguese, as well as the Bantu and Khoisan languages.
