概要
The book goes through the most exciting discoveries we have recently made about the great whales and dolphins, and about their intelligence, languages and cultures. It also explains why whales play a decisive role in maintaining oceanic carbon sinks, an issue with great importance for the future of humanity – for all the eight and a half billion of us.
At the end of the audio book there is a unique half-an-hour concert by humpback whales. Their songs have been recorded in an immersive form by the nature sound recordist Thomas Rex Beverly in Hawaii, and mixed into their final form by Morten Lindberg, considered as the world's foremost master of immersive sound. The text of the book has been written by Risto Isomäki and Jaana Airaksinen, who have been developing a new kind of whale research method on the Azorean island of Pico. The audio book is narrated by Samuel West, known from a number of memorable roles in feature films and from the TV series All Creatures Great and Small.
Welcome to the acoustic world of the great whales. As it exists in the ocean.
