An enormous bird rises from a field in Ontario. A shimmering, humanlike figure appears across the Missouri River during a drum circle. A family in Arizona hears movement overhead, and discovers hundreds of white handprints on the roof.

Join Lon Strickler on Phantoms & Monsters Radio for eight report collections involving Native people, First Nations communities, and encounters that contributors connected to Indigenous stories or traditions.

Tonight’s accounts include:

• An Ontario reserve resident’s sighting of an enormous bird.

• Northern Ontario stories of the Hairy Man and a long-necked lake creature.

• Encounters with the “Furry Ones” on the Diné/Navajo reservation.

• Unexplained drumming during a Pennsylvania geocaching trip.

• A reported Glimmer Man sighting at North Dakota’s Kimball Bottoms.

• A secondhand South Dakota letter describing an alleged transformation and a family tragedy.

• An Arizona family’s frightening night beneath a roof covered in mysterious handprints.

These are witness recollections and submitted accounts, including unverified secondhand claims. The people making them are credited with cultural connections; the reports do not represent a single shared Indigenous belief system.
