We can plant. We can water. But only God can make things grow. So who really deserves the credit for what we accomplish?

In 1 Corinthians 3:7–9, the Apostle Paul teaches a powerful lesson about human responsibility, spiritual growth, and God's sovereignty.

Writing to a church divided over its spiritual leaders, Paul reminds the Corinthian believers that neither the person who plants nor the person who waters is responsible for producing spiritual growth. That power belongs to God alone.

Yet Paul also makes something equally important clear: our labor in God's service matters. Those who plant and those who water are working together toward the same purpose, and God promises to reward each according to their own labor.

In this Bible teaching, we explore:

• Why Paul says neither the planter nor the waterer deserves the credit for spiritual growth.
• Why Christian workers must recognize that they are serving the same God.
• What it means that God rewards each believer according to their labor.
• Why Paul describes believers as God's field and God's building.
• How understanding our rightful place in God's work changes the way we serve Him.

The central question is not simply what we accomplish for God, but whether we recognize Who makes our work fruitful.

Whether you serve in ministry, teach God's Word, encourage others, or quietly work behind the scenes, this passage offers an important perspective on faithfulness, humility, and the source of true spiritual growth.

Join us as we study 1 Corinthians 3:7–9 and discover why all the glory ultimately belongs to God.
