The last thing a woman passed over for her dream promotion expects is a mandatory vacation to Spain. The last thing she wants is for it to change everything.
Gwenneth Hayes isn't usually one to be dramatic, but at the moment, it's fair to say her life is falling apart. She has just discovered that her workplace nemesis is about to receive the promotion she was promised--the one she has worked her entire career for and knows she deserves. Unfortunately, the stress-induced mini-meltdown that follows does not exactly help her case, even if Gwen maintains that she did not steal his bobblehead; she was only borrowing it for dramatic effect.
Her boss agrees to overlook the outburst and reconsider the promotion on one condition: Gwen must take a minimum two-week vacation out of town and completely avoid work. So, Gwen boards a last-minute flight for the fourteen-day Trails, Tides, and Tastes of Spain tour, leaving the biggest project of her career in the hands of her nemesis.
The timing is terrible, but Gwen is determined to make the best of it. She has a ten-step plan to destress, reset, and prove she deserves the senior VP of marketing and strategy role. That plan does not include helping a woman she just met search for a mysterious chapel using only an old photo. It does not include breaking into a hotel kitchen with her fellow travelers to make a gourmet midnight snack. And it definitely does not include falling for the equally irritating and irritatingly handsome doctor she keeps getting paired with.
As Gwen and her co-travelers move through Spain's mountains, small towns, restaurants, and Mediterranean coast, the trip becomes more than a forced vacation. For Gwen--and for the other women on the tour--it becomes a chance to see life differently, reconsider what success really means, and discover that sometimes the best way forward is the path that was never part of the plan.
