Why does God describe salvation as a wedding? Pastors Jason and Daniel start in Genesis 2, where marriage is a covenant and not a contract, a union that points beyond itself to God and His people. From there, they follow the thread through Sinai, the golden calf, and some of the hardest passages in the prophets, including Ezekiel 16 and Hosea's marriage to Gomer, where God shows Himself as a jealous husband for His people because He knows they need Him. (A heads-up for parents: the Ezekiel 16 section includes a content warning for listeners under 17.)
The thread lands on Jesus, the bridegroom who prepares a place for His bride, gives Himself to make her clean, and returns for the marriage supper of the Lamb. Along the way, they speak honestly to anyone wounded by an earthly marriage, and remind us that this marriage is "all Him," down to the new heart He gives us to love Him back. This is Week 11 of Threads at FBC Boerne.
