October is my husband’s. His birthday is on the 7th, our anniversary is on the 17th (what he wanted and I happily accepted because it’s not in MY birthday month), and Halloween, his favorite holiday, closes out the month. So obviously the intermission posts have to be about him.

In a world where men are scary and not taught to be vulnerable, I found one who is gentle and honest, doesn’t put up with bullshit, and values fun. He is creative and practical and excellent at multitasking (unlike his wife, who you don’t want to ask to do two things at once).

I just want people to know it is possible to find someone who will do the minimum by respecting you and listening to you, but also who will do the most (in a good way) by specifically matching with your nuances. I have the sense of humor of a twelve year old boy. I am often upset at myself or life. And I am quicker to be practical than I am to comfort. Once I told him I would work on not being so negative (because he is so positive and hopeful), and he looked a little surprised and said, “I want you just the way you are.” Well damn.

We met when we were 28, married when we were 33. To say he was worth the long, lonely wait is an understatement. I’m the most thankful for my husband.
