WHERE IS THE INVESTIGATION OF BENJAMIN GLASSMAN?

The federal government is investigating Congresswoman Ilhan Omar over allegations that she lied about her date of birth and citizenship.

What’s remarkable is that federal immigration officials reportedly examined similar allegations in 2019 and found insufficient evidence to justify a full investigation.

Seven years later, federal authorities are pursuing those questions again.

So I have a question for the Department of Justice.

WHERE IS THE INVESTIGATION OF BENJAMIN GLASSMAN?

In the Carter criminal case, we obtained affirmative documentation from PNC Bank establishing that the alleged four-million-dollar loan did not exist.

The evidence was further addressed through the Department of the Treasury and Department of Commerce, including the involvement of Underwood.

On October 22, 2018, I personally confronted United States Attorney Benjamin Glassman with the evidence.

His explanation?

The Department of Justice had shredded the evidence.

We subsequently requested records documenting that destruction from the Executive Office for United States Attorneys.

The response identified no responsive records.

Consider the significance.

A federal prosecutor offered an explanation concerning the destruction of evidence in a criminal prosecution. Yet the records we obtained did not corroborate that explanation.

If the government can reopen questions about Omar’s historical immigration records, what prevents it from independently examining Glassman’s representations?

Why hasn’t the public been told whether anyone investigated his explanation?

Who supposedly destroyed the evidence? When? Under whose authority? And what did Glassman actually know?

These are not complicated questions. They are precisely the questions federal investigators routinely ask when examining suspected false statements.

And the Department of Justice already has an Office of Professional Responsibility charged with examining allegations of misconduct involving its attorneys.

The issue is not whether Omar should be investigated. Credible allegations deserve lawful examination, regardless of the person involved.

The issue is whether federal prosecutors are held to comparable standards when their own material representations are challenged.

In the Carter matter, we did more than raise suspicions. We presented affirmative documentary evidence from the financial institution itself, supported by the federal correspondence examined in our previous reports.

Yet we have received no substantiated explanation of Glassman’s shredding statement and no confirmation of an independent investigation.

Why?

Department of Justice, answer this:

Was Benjamin Glassman’s representation ever independently investigated?

If so, by whom, and what was determined?

If not, why not?

The public should not have to accept an official’s word merely because that official once held the authority to prosecute others.

A federal badge does not confer immunity from scrutiny.

A prosecutor’s title does not establish the truth.

And the obligation to investigate credible allegations of dishonesty cannot depend upon whether the subject is a congresswoman or a former United States Attorney.

ONE GOVERNMENT. ONE STANDARD OF ACCOUNTABILITY.

So, Department of Justice—

WHERE IS THE INVESTIGATION OF BENJAMIN GLASSMAN?

This is VICTORY.
