On January 15, 1947, Betty Bersinger discovered the bisected, washed and posed body of Elizabeth Short in a vacant lot in Leimert Park, Los Angeles, beginning one of the most infamous unsolved murder investigations in American history. The LAPD cold case unit still lists the case as open, with no perpetrator biological sample ever recovered, no DNA profile possible, and Short's whereabouts in the five days before her death entirely unaccounted for.

Anyone with information about the murder of Elizabeth Short in Los Angeles in 1947 is asked to contact the LAPD Cold Case Unit at 213-486-6890.
