President Donald Trump is facing bipartisan criticism over an agreement allowing Russian diesel fuel to enter United States and global markets. Seven senators, including Republicans Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Thom Tillis, and John Curtis, and Democrats Jeanne Shaheen, Richard Blumenthal, and Ron Wyden, say the arrangement may violate the law banning Russian energy imports. They are demanding that the administration reverse course. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent defended the agreement, saying the administration will proceed using its available legal authority. Critics argue that the White House failed to consult Congress and did not provide the explanation required by law. President Trump also announced what he called an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, involving a halt to attacks on oil refineries and other energy infrastructure. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the announcement came as a surprise, while reports indicated that strikes continued against Ukrainian power facilities. Russia has not publicly confirmed the agreement. A federal judge in New York ordered the administration to stop remaining television advertisements funded with twenty million dollars in taxpayer money. The advertisements promoted President Trump and his policies. The White House defended them as public service announcements, while the court case alleges that government funds were improperly used for political messaging. The White House has not announced a full public schedule for today in the available reports. The administration’s major focus remains energy prices, the Russia and Ukraine conflict, and the legal challenges surrounding federal spending. Thank you for tuning in.
