President Donald Trump is in San Antonio, Texas, after departing the White House for an official visit. According to the White House press pool, Marine One returned to the South Lawn shortly after midnight Eastern Time, following the president’s Texas trip. Before leaving Washington, President Trump spoke with reporters about a new defense arrangement involving Türkiye, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. The president said he welcomed military support for Saudi Arabia under the proposed Mecca Defense Alliance. The administration is also facing scrutiny over approximately twenty million dollars in taxpayer-funded Department of Homeland Security advertisements praising the president’s policies. The White House describes the broadcasts as presidential public service announcements. The Democratic National Committee has filed a lawsuit, alleging that the spending violates restrictions on government-funded political publicity. The White House disputes that claim. Another major administration story concerns Iran. The Atlantic reports that the White House has asked the Pentagon to prepare possible military options before the November third midterm elections. No final decision has been announced, and officials say the president retains all available options. The United States and Iran continue communicating through intermediaries. On artificial intelligence, President Trump reportedly met privately with Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei at the White House.
