This is a very personal health update—and definitely not an episode I expected to be recording.
After dealing with ongoing health issues and feeling like something just wasn’t adding up, I started looking more closely at my environment. What followed was mold testing, apartment inspections, mycotoxin results, a LOT of questions, and ultimately the decision to move out of my apartment.
In this episode, I’m taking you through the entire story: what made me start questioning mold exposure, the symptoms I’ve been experiencing, my history of water damage in the apartment, what my testing showed, and what I’m doing now.
I’m also talking about:
- What indoor mold is and why moisture matters
- Symptoms that can be associated with damp or moldy environments
- What my personal symptoms have looked like
- My experience with mycotoxin testing
- Why mold and mycotoxin testing can be a controversial topic
- What I’m doing with my belongings and apartment
- How I’m supporting my body while going through all of this
- What I wish I knew before this happened
- Why it’s still important to investigate other potential causes of symptoms instead of blaming everything on mold
I’m still very much in the middle of this experience, so this isn’t a perfectly wrapped-up “before and after” story. I want to bring you along in real time and eventually update you on what changes—if anything—once I’m completely out of this environment.

As always, this episode is for educational purposes and is based on my personal experience. Mold-related symptoms can overlap with many other health conditions, and mycotoxin testing has limitations, so results should be considered within the context of your overall health and discussed with an appropriate healthcare professional.
