Dr. Lindsey Miller, an Oklahoma native who earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology, with minors in Chemistry and Business, from the University of Central Oklahoma before going on to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. She then spent several years providing dental care to underserved communities across the state until her family grew with the arrival of her two daughters, Violet and Dahlia. She then focused on Oklahoma City and the surrounding areas until she opened Urban Smiles Dentistry in Downtown Oklahoma City. At Urban Smiles Dentistry patients receive exceptional care in an environment that feels calm, welcoming, and unlike any dental office they have visited before. She is one of the few providers in Oklahoma offering general dentistry and airway-focused dentistry, which connects oral health to whole-body wellness. She takes the time to explain your options clearly, walk you through her findings, and build a treatment plan around your life.
In this episode…
What if the way your jaw developed is affecting how well you breathe while you sleep? Many people associate poor sleep and sleep apnea primarily with weight, but Dr. Lindsey Miller explains why dentists may also look at jaw development, tongue position, teeth grinding, and other signs inside the mouth when evaluating airway concerns.
Could symptoms you have accepted as normal actually be telling you something about your sleep?
Dr. Miller explains how airway focused dentistry differs from traditional dental care and how oral appliances can support breathing during sleep. She also discusses nasal breathing, why she evaluates a patient’s ability to breathe through the nose before recommending mouth tape, and how home sleep testing can help connect symptoms with nighttime breathing patterns. She shares how patients who come in with grinding, jaw pain, or disrupted sleep can sometimes reveal a much broader picture of their airway health.
