With clear vision, scripture-driven insight, and a down-to-earth style, Dr. Carol Pierce-Davis presents a collection of meditations titled A Moment in Time: Meditations on the Seasons of Faith. Loosely based on the church calendar to which she added a few new seasons of her own, she leads you into a Biblical journey as contemporary as today, touching on the realities of life and death, love and division, war and peace. She showcases her love of scripture and her intimate relationship with the players in Biblical history. In her meditation “My Man, Moses,” she writes, “I have always said that when I die and go to heaven (presumptuous I know) I am going to hang out with the cool guys, Isaiah, David, and Jesus. After reading today’s scripture, I have added another candidate, Moses. With his outrageous relationship with God, he took down the walls of power and mystery between human and God to cajole, annoy, and get his way when it came to protecting God’s people.” With her psychological awareness and grasp of scripture, she offers a spiritual look into communication, relationships, and life transitions. Add in her sense of humor, and fearless theology and you have A Moment in Time: Meditations on the Seasons of Faith.
