"Narrator Jim Frangione brings out the intensity of this story right from the beginning. Trez, a vampire, is dealing with the bone-deep pain of losing his mate, Selena, and Frangione has the listener feeling his grief as well. Therese, another vampire, who works as a waitress in Trez's brother's restaurant, bears a striking resemblance to Selena. Therese has been dreaming of a shadow lover, and she wonders if Trez might be the one. Trez desperately wants to believe that Therese is the reincarnation of Selena, and Frangione aptly expresses his desperation. Frangione runs the emotional gamut from pain to passion as Trez and Therese struggle to make a life together."
