Smokehouse Pictures, the award-winning production company founded by George Clooney and Grant Heslov, has struck an exclusive development deal to create audio-only original projects for a worldwide audience.
Legendary musicians Beck, yasiin bey, Mariah Carey, Tenacious D, Aimee Mann, Carlos Santana, and Pete Townshend will be creating ‘Words + Music’ Audible Originals. The first of the slate, Pete Townshend’s “Somebody Saved Me,” debuts May 6.
With a cast that includes Jon Hamm, Kate Mara, and Bradley Whitford, “The Big Lie” is an immersive, cinematic seven-part Audible Original exploring the events surrounding “Salt of the Earth,” the only movie named to the ‘Hollywood Blacklist’.
Coming exclusively to Audible and hosted by Dr. Indre Viskontas, “Radiant Minds: The World of Oliver Sacks” will include conversations with patients, scientists, artists, and archival recordings of best-selling author and noted neurologist, Dr. Sacks.
Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb are heading to the Minetta Lane Theatre with their NBC News colleagues to solve the “Murder in Studio One”, a comedic whodunit. The performance will be recorded live for release as an Audible Original.
In a limited run, multi-talented Broadway performer Amber Iman will take audiences on a journey of love, loss, and joy through songs and storytelling. The audio production of “An Evening with Amber Iman” will also be made available exclusively on Audible.
Not only is “Punk in Translation: Latinx Origins” the first collaboration between Fresh Produce Media and Audible, this podcast on the Latinx roots of punk rock is Audible’s first production simultaneously published in English and Spanish.
This lineup of new titles, including “Approval Junkie,” “And So We Walked,” “The Fever,” “Daddies,” “The Podcaster,” and “Bernarda’s Daughters,” underscores Audible’s commitment to delivering the theater experience to a wider audience, through audio.
“An Evening with Ali Stroker” and “How to Release Anxiety” with Gabby Bernstein are coming to a live audience at the Minetta Lane Theatre this March. These live shows will also be recorded as Audible Originals and released globally.
Under their audio production banner SBH Productions, the two superstar talents will bring five new projects—amplifying Black creatives and Black culture—to Audible listeners. The inaugural project, “Finding Tamika,” is set to be released on March 3, 2022.
The Audible Original podcast “Climate of Change with Cate Blanchett and Danny Kennedy” has been greenlit for two seasons. It will feature out-of-the-box thinkers, innovators and high-profile guests and the first season will release globally in April 2022.
Created by Travis Beacham, the cast for “Impact Winter,” releasing on February 17, includes Himesh Patel, Holliday Grainger, David Gyasi, Esme Creed-Miles, Liam Cunningham, Bella Ramsey, Caroline Ford, Chloe Pirrie, Indira Varma, Freddy Carter, and more.
