Eldwin wants to follow in his father's footsteps and become a Dragon Guard, but not for the glory. With his family dead and their lands dying, the opportunity to join the dragon rider school is all he has. Eldwin and Maren set out on a journey to the other schools to see if their fellow riders are being impacted by the disruption to magic. The Terranese school provides a dark surprise, and a darker secret. Armed with new knowledge, Maren suspects she knows the source of the disruption … and it’s all her fault.

Eldwin and Maren are dispatched to the border of Osnen for their next assignment. A cluster of small mining towns are in danger as a horde of goblins are assembling in the hills. Scouting their camp reveals a familiar face – one that they never expected to see again. With magic failing, and bonds weakening, will Eldwin and Maren be able to save the day?

Eldwin’s decision to bring a soul back from the island proved to be a costly mistake. Innocent people are dying, and the blame falls on his shoulders. Where magic and steel have been the answer before, now they are useless to stop the reign of terror. But there is hope. If Eldwin can find the hidden fortress of the Assembly, he just might get the help he needs. With more questions than answers, Eldwin’s time is running out.

With an evil creature killing dragons and riders alike, the False King’s reign of terror spills across the border. While the king of Osnen and the Citadel’s riders struggle to stem the assault, Eldwin flies to the Conclave to plead for help from the other schools. Unless the schools unite and arrive in time, the world is doomed.

As the Order works to rebuild, Eldwin is promoted and given his first official task: investigate the disappearance of a missing child. What he assumes will be an easy assignment quickly proves more troublesome and sinister than he imagined, especially when he discovers there’s more than one child that has vanished.

The Citadel is attacked, and the already weakened Order must face a new threat — one that isn’t just flesh and blood. Eldwin is summoned by the Assembly to fulfill his oath. To stop the coming darkness from spreading, he must venture into the Void, the realm between the living and the dead. As cities fall and lives are lost, the scattered riders will need more than magic and dragons… they’ll need the Assembly.

With Maren bound to the ferryman’s boat by a powerful enchantment, and magic all but gone, Eldwin must find another way to free her. Beneath the Terranese school lies a possible answer, but a sinister creature lies in wait — one that even a dragon is no match for. Escaping alive isn’t the only problem. A wicked man is gathering strength using the dead, and he has his vengeful gaze set on Katori.

Eldwin’s quest to become a dragon rider seems hopeless, but he won’t let his dream to bond with a dragon die. A sell-sword job with a caravan promises a decent payment, and offers him a chance to continue his quest. The caravan he guards has a secret, and when he uncovers it, he can hardly believe his change of luck. However, despite the turn of events, his life only gets harder and a chance meeting with an enemy brings Eldwin to a moral dilemma.

The Island of Lost Souls gives Eldwin hope that he’ll see his father again, but the island holds many secrets—and hidden dangers. As he draws closer to the end of his quest, the island will push him to his limit … and cost him everything.

Actor, writer and director Mahesh Dattani is the first playwright in English to be awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award by India’s National Academy of Letters. Included here are all three of his plays featuring Uma Rao – PhD student, daughter-in-law of Bangalore's deputy commissioner of police, and wife of the superintendent. Priyanga Burford (neé Elan), stars as the intrepid sleuth, with full casts including Shiv Grewal, Saeed Jaffrey, Ajay Chhabra, Amerjit Deu and Nitin Chandra Ganatra.
