The ultimate goal is to help the community and learn along the way. We want this to be relatable to hispanic/latinos growing up in the U.S. but we will be speaking from our Mexican American experience. In the dead gray cold of Starkfield, Massachusetts, farmer Ethan Frome is struggling to scrape out a living. The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes was a radio show which aired in the USA from 1939-1950, most famously starring Basil Rathbone as Sherlock and Nigel Bruce as Dr. Watson. Episodes from 1939 through 1943 were written or adapted by Edith Meiser from the books of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. From 1943 onward, most shows were written or adapted by the team of Dennis Green and Anthony Boucher or Green and Leslie Charteris, who replaced Meiser who left the show over her disagreements with a sponsor over the amount of violence in the program.

This is a short fictional story, about a girl named Elodia who experiences strange encounters, with an unknown spirit. From her childhood to her adulthood, she sees him awake and in her dreams. This man appears throughout her life while she ages, but the man does not age. The spirit of the man is a soldier of the civil war. The soldier mostly appears to Elodia on a full moon, but his motives are unknown. It is when Elodia takes a tour with her college classmates at a historical landmark of a home that awakens her curiosities and doubts.

The story begins with an unnamed male narrator who describes a man with a limp and a striking demeanor. The story of Ethan, his sickly wife Zeena, and the caregiver Mattie then unfolds: Mattie helped to care for the infirm Zeena, but when Zeena noticed a spark of affection between her husband and Mattie, she demanded that the caregiver be dismissed. When the aforementioned narrator resumes, it emerges that Mattie was severely injured 20 years earlier in the accident which caused Ethan’s limp as well as a startling role reversal among the two women.
