With the return of 8-3-9-6, Kevin has to defeat the AI's master to free himself from their collective grasp. But to succeed, he first has to go against Myrianna, the tech sorceress who trained him. To make things worse, Kevin must achieve this task on his own since his friends have been imprisoned on Arcadia Prime. Meanwhile, the new Kregan Emperor, Xonax, is on his way to Earth with an entire armada determined to obliterate the human race. The clock is ticking, and the stakes are high. Everyone Kevin loves, as well as his entire planet, is in jeopardy. And there's no margin for error.

After saving the Arcadian Confederate from certain destruction, Kevin's consciousness is cast back to Earth. Victory is sweet, but life on Earth is boring. It doesn't take long for him to start missing his galaxy-trotting adventures. But you should be careful what you wish for: when a Kregan operative bent on revenge shows up to hunt Kevin down, everything starts to unravel. The galaxy's in grave danger, and it looks like Kevin's the only one who can save it. Not to worry! The Arcadians have sent their best engineer...who happens to be a talking cat with a less than ideal attitude.

 Time is of the essence. The race to the end is on. 

Tangel leads the I2 to Star City, while Joe follows after the Perilous Dream, desperate to bring his daughters home. Elsewhere Praetor Kirkland prepares for attack, suspecting that the Widows are coming for him. To top it off, the denizens of Star City make an impossible demand.
