Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is a classic in which Verne prophesized many modern uses of the submarine. The story concerns the now famous fictional character Captain Nemo and his submarine, Nautilus, as seen by one of his passengers, Professor Pierre Aronnax. A man left for dead, after the rest of his family is killed, somehow survives and is slowly remembering the events surrounding the incident. He now lives on the moon and is in charge of shipments back and forth to earth from the mines there. An attempted robbery reveals the murderer of his family. He wants revenge, but how?

On Venus, life is cheap, and danger is around every corner. A mysterious woman wants a notorious man to enter a building and force a man to talk to her. If that doesn't work, he is to kill the man. She says this is an act of love, not revenge, and he will be handsomely rewarded. Things do not go as planned, but the incredible part is just beginning as the notorious man, turned hero, and the mysterious woman flee to a strange, deserted city where he discovers that the fate of the earth is in his hands.
