This is the first book in the Oma Quilt Me a Tale series. Ten-year-old Magdalena Schmidt travels from Germany to America in 1891 with her family and best friend Nina. When Sophie's parents discover that she has prayer beads, trouble quickly settles in the Glidden home.

The three main characters, known as the trio, have exciting times with friends and family as they turn eleven years old and enter middle school. Join the boys as they meet new friends and get involved in the school basketball team, talent show, and spring play.
