It was composed while Bunyan was serving a 12-year prison sentence in Bedford prison for preaching without a license, and was first published in 1666.

Alfred Edersheim (1825-1889) was a biblical scholar who converted from Judaism to Christianity and wrote popular books like The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah, The Temple: Its Ministry and Services, and Bible History Old Testament. The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ is an account of the events leading up to the crucifixion of Christ, dictated by a 19th-century German stigmatic and visionary, Anne Catherine Emmerich. Emmerich was nearly illiterate, so she dictated the text to the poet Clemens Brentano. The narrative contains many small details that do not occur in the Gospel narratives, and the sublime poetics and lofty imagery in the book have led scholars to suspect that Brentano may have embellished Anne’s descriptions as he write them down.

View of the Hebrews; or the Tribes of Israel in America is an 1823 book by Ethan Smith, a Congregationalist minister, who argued that Native Americans were descended from the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel. The lost 10 tribes were believed to have disappeared after being taken captive by the Assyrians in the eighth century BCE. Smith's speculation was inspired by the apocryphal book II Esdras 13:41, which claims that the ten tribes settled in a far country, "where never mankind dwelt."

Matthew Hopkins (c. 1620-1647) was an English witch-hunter whose career flourished during the English Civil War. Claiming to hold the office of Witchfinder General, his witch-hunts were mainly restricted to East Anglia. Hopkins is believed to have been responsible for the executions of 300 alleged witches between the years 1644 and 1646. This short but interesting pamphlet consists of a series of questions directed at Hopkins by county magistrates, and Hopkins’ answers, in which tries to justify his murderous deeds.

Dwight Lyman Moody (1837-1899), also known as D. L. Moody, was an evangelist and publisher connected with the Holiness Movement. He founded the Moody Church, Northfield School, and Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts, the Moody Bible Institute, and Moody Publishers. Moody was associated with famous evangelists of his time, like the Scottish Reverend Andrew A. Bonar and the Baptist preacher Charles Spurgeon. This audiobook comprises sermons of his delivered in various cities in the US and the UK. The text discusses the love of God as the source of all gifts of grace.

The Analects or Selected Sayings is an ancient Chinese text comprising sayings and wisdom teachings attributed to Confucius and his contemporaries, as well as fragmentary dialogues between the philosopher and his students.
