    Episode 10  - Jarietta Benton

myPTcareer podcast is where we talk to Personal Trainers about their journey in their Personal Training career.

myPTcareer podcast episodes will showcase Personal Trainers in different stages of their careers, sharing their stories and experiences while providing actionable advice for growing and succeeding in their careers and lives.

As personal trainers, we get in the business to help everyone, but we must figure everything out ourselves.

Trainers have the knowledge, experience, and certifications to coach and assist clients with their health and fitness goals, but starting your PT career can be challenging.

I want to help with your career, and hearing the stories and experiences of guests of myPTcareer will provide insight throughout your PT career, health, fitness goals, and life.

    Today's guest is Jarietta Benton.

Jarietta and I have a couple of things in common; we love being personal trainers and being competitive on the basketball court.

Jarietta and I work at Lateral Fitness in Chicago.

In between clients, I have 5 minutes to eat my food, and sometimes Jarietta is in the break room simultaneously.

During that 5 minutes, we talk about everything and anything while we are scarfing down our food.

Once we finish our meals, we are back on the fitness floor with our clients.

Once I step on the fitness floor, it's time to work. It was the same way stepping on the basketball court. And Jarietta and I can relate to that.

In this episode, Jarietta shares her story of how important mindset is when approaching anything in life, especially in your PT career.

I can't wait for you to hear her story.

You can find Jarietta on social media @jbeyond_fitness, and on www.jbeyondfitness.com

    Episode 9 - Brittany Howard

myPTcareer podcast is where we talk to Personal Trainers about their journey in their Personal Training career.

myPTcareer podcast episodes will showcase Personal Trainers in different stages of their careers, sharing their stories and experiences while providing actionable advice for growing and succeeding in their careers and lives.

I want to help with your career, and hearing the stories and experiences of guests of myPTcareer will provide insight throughout your PT career, health, fitness goals, and life.

    Today's guest is Brittany Howard.

I've known Brittany since 2018 and helped her pursue and start her PT career journey.

I was managing a luxury hotel and resident Fitness Center, and I needed to hire personal trainers and group fitness instructors.  Brittany's resume came through, and I saw potential in her through her resume.

She was newly certified and needed experience and validation that pursuing a career in Personal Training was worth it.

Brittany was in a different industry and was looking for a change.

She came in for an interview, and instantly I felt her passion for fitness and helping people was there; she just needed some experience.

If I could give her a class to teach as well as a client here and there, she would get some experience if she wanted to interview for another gym.

She performed well and gained experience and when she applied at Equinox, she was hired.

I was sad she had to leave my gym but excited to see her continue her PT career path.

After Equinox, she became an independent Personal Trainer and added online fitness coaching during the pandemic.

She continues to coach her clients in their health and fitness goals and continually learns and masters her craft of Personal Training to grow and expand her business.

This episode is excellent for all Trainers because you never know the opportunities without exploring them and taking the risk.  And once you take the risk, you understand it wasn't that bad and precisely what you need to grow yourself, your PT career, and your PT business.
