!!!!! cw: mentions of slavery, rape, abortion, harassment of minors
hey guys! in this episode, i took a deep dive into three of the most portrayed stereotypes of black women: the jezebel, the sapphire, and the mammy. i looked at the history of these stereotypes, talked about the odds and ends of these coming into where they are today, and went over some very recent and very well known examples of these situations in our real life. these stereotypes are so harmful, making the positive black woman representation on screen all the more important. even though this episode turned into a rant and a free thought more so than the informative podcast i wanted it to be, i hope you were still able to learn something. this is a topic i'm super passionate about as a black woman myself, so i hope other black women and teens that may be listening can feel like they're not alone in this fight <3 if you have any other episode ideas, feel free to dm them to the podcast instagram, @bedroompoppod !!!
