She has the diagnosis. She has the prescription. Her labs improved. Her provider is satisfied.

She still feels hypothyroid.

In this episode, Dr. Kelley Reis explains why optimizing the thyroid prescription is often the wrong conversation — and what the right one looks like.

T4 to T3 conversion requires selenium-dependent enzymes that chronic stress, cortisol dysregulation, and nutritional depletion impair directly. Cortisol shifts enzyme activity away from active T3 production and toward reverse T3 — an inactive form that occupies thyroid receptors and blocks the active hormone from getting in. Estrogen dominance elevates thyroid binding globulin, binding T4 and T3 in circulation so they never reach the cells that need them. And even the direct T3 in medications like Armour cannot overcome receptors whose sensitivity has been impaired by estrogen dominance.

Three drivers. All invisible on a standard thyroid panel. None of them addressed by adjusting the dose.

This is the episode for the woman who has been told her thyroid is managed — and knows something is still wrong.

You, Restored is hosted by Dr. Kelley Reis, Naturopathic Physician and founder of Liberty Natural Wellness — a fully virtual direct-care practice rooted in nervous system regulation, gut health, and hormones.
