This is our first official episode of the Bingeability Show with Martin Huntbach & Lyndsay Cambridge from Vidonary.com - Plan, record, edit and publish videos for social media and YouTube.

1. YouTube has launched "Ask YouTube"

YouTube's new AI chat feature (US desktop only for now) lets you have a back-and-forth conversation — like Claude or ChatGPT — except instead of text answers, it serves up long-form videos and Shorts. And it's no coincidence: with Google owning YouTube and Gemini already recommending Shorts in its results, this is clearly where they've been heading all along.

2. But... does anyone actually search on YouTube anymore?

Search used to be the way people discovered your videos, but these days it's less than 10% of views (under 6% on some channels) — the recommendation algorithm does the heavy lifting now. So the big question is whether Ask YouTube just replaces those tiny search numbers, or whether it changes how videos get recommended full stop.

3. Optimising for AI without killing your clickability

The worry is that shoehorning search-friendly questions into your titles means sacrificing the intrigue and curiosity that actually gets the click from the 90-odd% who find you via recommendations. The answer is probably both: keep titles and thumbnails intriguing for humans, then do the AI-friendly stuff under the hood — question-based timestamps, proper chapters, solid descriptions, even title slides with text on screen.

4. Go back and optimise your old videos

This could be a new lease of life for those slowly dying videos you published months ago — throw the transcript into Claude, ask what questions people would have about it, and update the timestamps and descriptions accordingly. Same logic as refreshing an old thumbnail: you don't need brand new content to squeeze more out of the old stuff.

5. Should you talk politics in your content?

Two questions before you post: is it something you genuinely care about, and does it impact your audience? If yes to both, go for it — but don't copy business influencers who lean into politics for attention, because they make money from eyeballs and sponsorships, while you make money from selling your services. Being opinionated doesn't have to mean being political.

6. Hook of the day: "The dumbest thing I did to get results"

It's counterintuitive and self-deprecating, which instantly drops people's guard — plus "dumb" signals it'll be simple enough for anyone to copy. Best bit: it's endlessly reusable across different services and audience segments (the dumbest thing I did to get leads, to hit 10k subscribers, and so on).
