Far too often, praying the Sinner's Prayer to ask Jesus into one's life is thought of as the agent in becoming a Christian: to be born again. This is a condensed version: "Dear God, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus died for my sins. I also believe that He arose from the grave. I invite Jesus into my life." I add "dangerously far too often" because the Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit is the Agent in becoming born again, what it means to be a Christian, and not a prayer we pray - an act of the will - as if it activates Him (Revelation 3:20). Eternity is at stake if we don't know the difference, and that Galatians 5:17 proves that we are born again. It applies to all people who profess to be Christians. And it hinges on Romans 10:17 preached in its fullest: "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ." Please check out "The Gospel the Devil Loves" on YouTube; it says it all.
From my heart to yours, Dennis
